Martin Smith

Martin Smith’s abstract paintings are created with the goal of making a painted surface come alive. He builds up his paintings over time working in oil in a continual process of re-working the surface. Sometimes spending weeks on his canvases, scraping back and adding layers of paint – this continual process of revision is fundamental to Martins’ painting.

Martin Smith’s artistic qualifications include Photography, a Fine Art degree and a Fellowship in Drawing and Painting from the Wirral Metropolitan College.

His work has been exhibited in London and Manchester, and much of his work is sold privately.
